8.7 Misc - Can I use VoIP service from (Vonage/Ooma/Broadvoice/MagicJack, etc) on your service?

Generally speaking, yes, you can use VoIP service on our network. However, because different VoIP providers utilize differnet methods, protocols and codecs Simply Bits cannot guarantee voice quality, nor can we guarantee that it will even work.

The following are items gleaned from various websites, user forums and other sites from people asking about issues with Vonage, Ooma, Broadvoice, etc. Simply Bits does not endorse or recommend any VoIP provider or router.

Bypass your entire LAN and plug the VoIP device directly into your ISP's conenction (where possible) to eliminate internal network issues.

Proper configuration of your router and QoS (quality of service) are critical to good audio quality. You should prioritize voice traffic ahead of all other traffic, and deprioritize P2P (peer to peer, or file sharing traffic) or even restrict it bandwidth to the bare minimum.
